SANDES - GIMS

Hey! Since what's app's privacy update issues we are hearing lot of news about new messaging applications. Not only new apps are in trending but also less popular apps are getting some attention like signal and telegram.

Now we have another application for Indian users known as SANDES. SANDES is made by Indian government. Actually this is developed under National Informatics  Center. This application is specially made for the Indian users. 

BENEFITS

The ultimate benefit with this application will be about national security. The biggest concerns which Indian government had with the other countries apps was national security and data privacy of Indian people. As it is a govt's own application we can use it with less stress about privacy.

APP AVAILABILITY

If you are a Apple user, it is available on Apple Store as SANDES. And if you want to download it on a Android device app is not available on play store at this moment, you need to download apk from the official website.

SETUP

Sign-up process is very simple, you just need to enter mobile number and allow all the permissions it asks for and ready to use. It is very similar to the what's app's setup process.

You can even get started with email also which seems very good on this messenger. But you cannot use the typical mail Id's which have gmail as a suffix. Which is little bit disappointment.

USER INTERFACE

I like the way that everything is kept very simple and clean. As I said simple, it has both negative and positive sides of it.

Lets talk about positive... The interface is having very less junk. You will get the essential features like voice call, video call, emojies, group creating, etc, which is very less in my opinion. But I like things simple. I saw initial stage of what's app also has very minimal junk which makes it easier for those people who are not techies. But as they increases new features it makes me feel mess. (I'm not complaining, growth is important but just sharing my opinion).

Now cons; Sandes is in first generation stage but it has to compete with many other messenger apps in race to beat what's app, for that it should come with little more options which are important. In app settings it doesn't have enough options to play around. And it lacks many things which are pretty much noticeable. While using Sandes you feel very outdated. Nothing is loading properly. 

These are the few good things and few worse things, which I have personally experienced in my limited time of usage.

MY OPINION

My opinion on this application is not positive. Because as we saw that previously Signal, and other apps has same issue of switching from what's app to new app. Not everyone is aware of what's app thing. It is very hard to switch suddenly from the app which become like a part of life. For Sandes this is gonna be even more difficult to grab users. Signal is a messenger app which has international market or international users. But in Sandes's case it is limited to India only. So it's a very challenging for Sandes to compete. 

But we should appreciate govt of India for taking this huge step. This shows how much importance Indian government is giving to internet and data privacy.
