IC - Integrated Chip (PART-1)

IC - Integrated Chip (PART-1)

ICs.....This blog contains about Integration Circuits also known as IC. This blog totally contains the below information.

• What is an IC?
• How IC is useful?
• History Of IC
• Evolution of IC technology
• Types of ICs based on Different Aspects
• Avdavtages and Disadvantages of ICs

WHAT IS AN IC?

IC (Integrated Circuit) is a chip based circuit, in which all the electronic elements and compounds both active (diodes and transistors) and passive (resistors and capacitors) are fabricated on a thin slab of semiconductor base.

IC is also known as microchip or microscopic electronic circuit.

HOW IC IS USEFUL?

Electronic circuits are developed using individual or discrete electronic components with different sizes, such that the cost and size of these discrete circuits increase with the number of components used in the circuit. To conquer this negative aspect, the integrated circuit technology was developed.

Every electronic device or equipment has a specified IC embedded in it. IC is just like a brain to an electronic device. In this era there's no any electronic equipment without an IC.

HISTORY

The integrated circuit technology was developed by Jack, the first IC was developed in the 1950s, and thereafter, Robert Noyce of Fairchild Semiconductor solved some practical problems of this integrated circuit.

EVOLUTION IN IC TECHNOLOGY

Evolution of IC's is truly based on the size and number of scale of integration.

Considering the different IC's with size, there are:

1) Small Scale Integration (SSI).
2)Medium Scale Integration (MSI).
3)Large Scale Integration (LSI).
4)Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI).
5)Ultra Large Scale Integration (ULSI).

Types of ICs based on intended applications:

1)Analog Integrated Circuits.
2)Digital Integrated Circuits.
3)Mixed Integrated Circuits.

General types of ICs

• Logic Circuits
• Comparators
• Switching ICs
• Audio Amplifiers
• CMOS Integrated Circuit
• Voltage Regulator ICs
• Operational Amplifiers
• Timer ICs

Types of ICs based on Classes

• Thin and thick film ICs
• Monolithic ICs
• Hybrid or multichip ICs

Types of IC packages

• Through Hole Mount Packages
• Surface Mount Packages

ADVANTAGES OF ICS OVER DISCRETE CIRCUITS

ICs are made on a small size of chip which can be hold on our nail.

In such a small size of base every element is been fabricated , as in Discrete Circuit every element is connected through different external connecting wires and this makes a huge mess and requires a lot of space.

As well as ICs cosumes less power and less in weight. Oprrating speed is also reliable.

There are some disadvantages too...

In an IC- inductor, tranformers can not be embedded as those elements are more heavier and large in size than IC.

There are more disadvantages when we go in deep.

We will publish more detailed and clear information of each type of ICs in upcoming days.

Types of Batteries Used In Electronic Devices

Now a days we are dependent on batteries mostly as in mobile phones, laptop, electric vehicles andother electronic devices. But do you know? What are the types of batteries we have and how they work. So, in this blog we explain you about batteries which are used mainly. Types of batteries 1. Nickel Cadmium 2. Nickel Metal Hydride 3. Lithium Ion  4. Lithium Polymer 1. Nickel Cadmium * Nicd battery. *  It was discovered in 1950. *  These batteries are mainly used in automotive electronics. Like electric vehicles, aircrafts etc. * Maximum voltage per cell is 1.2V. Pros *  It is rechargeable or reusable. *  Number of cycle durability is approximately upto 2000. *  High performance and long life. *  Charging temperature 0°C to 45°C and discharge temperature -20°C to 65°C. *  Capable to use in temperature at -40°C to 70°C. Cons * Cadmium present in these batteries, which is highly toxic and dangerous to environment. *  It is...

Laptop Buying Guide - How to choose perfect laptop for you...

Laptop Buying Guide (2020) Hi!, welcome to our blog. In this blog we give you some suggestions which may help you while buying a laptop. We keep it simple and informative. In market we have lot of laptops, but no laptop is perfect for everyone. While buying a laptop make sure that, you should know, for what purpose your buying a laptop. For-example gaming (or) video editing (or) coding (or) photo editing (or) entertainment (or) for project works (or) for business work etc... As we said no any laptop is perfect, we have to choose which is perfect for our needs. If you get confused don't worry, read complete blog it will definitely help you. We separated specifications in 7 different parts.  1.PROCESSOR Processor is very important in laptops, but you should not go for higher processor if you dont need, its just a waste of money. For normal users (like watching movies, coding, making Excel sheets & browsing) intel i3 processor is enough, it is capable to ...
